Little-River is nestled on the Grand Strand, just 20 miles north of Myrtle Beach. This unique little town is known as "one of the last communities on the Grand Strand where a slower pace of life still exists." It's a town known for its' fresh seafood, fishing charters and annual blue crab festival, just a short drive to all of the Grand Strand's world-class shopping, entertainment and championship golf courses. Little River is also unique in that two Las Vegas-style gambling boats are docked here that leave the waterfront twice a day, every day into international waters (where gambling is legal.) Fishing is an integral part of life in Little River. Visitors can choose between short party-boat fishing trips near the shore or spend an entire day fishing the deep waters of the Gulf Stream. Some local fishermen even take special requests - such as night fishing. As you would expect in a town famous for their seafood - dining out is another popular activity in Little Beach. Enjoy fresh local seafood and a variety of other types of restaurants, as well. One of the best times to visit is during the annual Blue Crab Festival, usually held in May at the Waterfront in Little River. This family celebration includes arts and crafts, entertainment, all kinds of delicious food (with emphasis on the blue crab and other seafood,) a petting zoo, games and much more.

Little River Weather & Climate

Coastal North Carolina has a temperate climate with no extreme temperature variations. Summer air temperatures along the immediate coastline are usually considerably lower than those even a few miles inland. Opposite the ocean, across the narrow barrier islands behind most beaches, are the "Sounds". These protected inland waters are calm, quiet and sheltered from the sea breezes. In winter, the Gulf Stream helps moderate air temperature and coastal fronts are common, bringing warmer than expected temperatures to the coastal areas. Sometimes, strong low-pressure systems clash with the Gulf Stream and develop into major storms, causing rain along the coast and over states to the north as well. Tropical hurricanes come close enough to North Carolina to influence the weather about twice in an average year.
